Connecting Stripe to GoHighLevel takes about two minutes. Getting paid reliably takes more. GoHighLevel payments let you build products, run payment plans and deposits, and sell straight through funnels and order forms — but tax, test-vs-live mode, and order-bump wiring are where do-it-yourself setups quietly leak money. Here’s the whole area, done right.
This post distills Nuno Tavares’s video, GoHighLevel Payments Complete Tutorial (2026) | Products, Stripe & Funnels.
How do you connect Stripe to GoHighLevel?
Go to Payments → Integrations, find Stripe, and hit connect. If you already have a Stripe account, it’s a one-button handoff — GoHighLevel jumps to Stripe, links up, and you’re done.
We recommend Stripe for a plain reason: it’s the most proven, best-adapted processor for GoHighLevel. PayPal works too, but Authorize.net, NMI, and the dozens of other options each need their own multi-step setup and carry small quirks that don’t “just work.” Stripe is the path of least resistance, and it opens up the widest set of features inside the platform.
“Stripe is the easiest to deal with, in our opinion, and we’ve been doing it for years.”
That’s the easy 10%. Everything below is the part that actually determines whether money hits your account.
How do you create a product to sell in GoHighLevel?
Everything lives in Payments → Products. Hit Create Product and work section by section.
Start with the basics: a title, a short description, and an optional product label that acts like a category for organizing your catalog. Leave the “online store” toggle off unless you’re building a true e-commerce storefront with a grid of items — for coaching, services, or a single product sold through a funnel, you don’t need it.
Two fields matter more than they look:
- Statement descriptor — what shows on the customer’s credit card statement. Set it to something recognizable (like your brand plus the product) so buyers don’t dispute a charge they don’t recognize.
- Product tax code — pick the code that matches what you sell (consulting, digital goods, merchandise). This feeds automatic tax later.
Already have the product in Stripe or another platform? You can import from Stripe by name instead of rebuilding it. We usually create a fresh product anyway, so sales in GoHighLevel stay separate and easy to report on.
How do you set up payment plans, deposits, and subscriptions?
Pricing is where GoHighLevel gets powerful — and confusing. One product can hold several prices, so label each one clearly or you’ll never find the right one when you wire automations later.
- One-time — a single charge. Add “track inventory” if you’re selling a limited number of spots; it grays out when they’re gone.
- Payment plan (a “two-pay” or “three-pay”) — set the price to recurring, divide the total across payments, and set number of payments to 2 or 3. A common move is to nudge each installment up slightly to cover the risk of someone paying the first and skipping the rest.
- Subscription — recurring with no number of payments, so it bills forever. Add a second price for annual, and a third with a trial period if you want a free window before the first charge.
- Deposit up front, balance later — this one’s a trick. Make the price recurring, put the balance in the recurring amount, set number of payments to 1, add a trial period (say 30 days) so the balance charges then, and put the deposit in as a setup fee that’s charged immediately.
For physical products, the same screen holds SKUs, inventory, cost-and-margin tracking, variants (size, color), and weight and dimensions for shipping. Digital products can auto-deliver a download URL with an optional expiry.
How do you sell through funnels, websites, and order forms?
A payment link is the fastest route: Payments → Payment Links → Create, attach the product, toggle options like quantity, phone, address, and coupon codes, then copy the link or send it to a contact right from the system.
To sell inside a page, edit any funnel or website page and drag in the one-step order form widget (or two-step, which collects contact info first). Then — and this is the step people miss — add the product to the page through the Products tab on that page. If the order form shows a “dynamic item” placeholder, don’t panic: it fills in once the product is attached and Stripe is connected.
Two upsell mechanics ride on top:
- Order bump — a checkbox on the order form that adds a second product. Set that product’s option to bump product, then add it to the form.
- One-time offer (OTO / one-click upsell) — a button on a later page that charges the card already on file. Set the button action to one-click upsell and downsell products. The catch: the order form must come first in the funnel, because that’s what stores the card. You can’t send someone straight to an OTO page.
What breaks in DIY GoHighLevel payment setups?
Here’s the honest gotcha. Connecting Stripe is the easy part — the money leaks show up in three quieter places:
- Tax. The tax code on the product, the include-or-exclude setting, and automatic tax in Payments → Settings → Taxes all have to agree. Get them out of sync and you either overcharge customers or eat the tax yourself. (Talk to your accountant on the actual rates — this is setup, not tax advice.)
- Test vs. live mode. Demos and half-finished builds run on a test account, where nothing really charges. Ship a funnel still pointed at test mode and every “sale” is fake. Confirm you’re live before you send traffic.
- Order-bump and upsell wiring. The order-form-first rule, the bump-product setting, and the one-click upsell button action are fiddly. Miss one and the bump silently won’t add or the upsell button charges nothing.
None of these throw an error. They just cost you money until someone notices. That’s exactly the kind of thing our done-right HighLevel builds are meant to catch before your customers do.
How do you deliver the product automatically after someone pays?
A charge means nothing if the buyer never gets the thing. Build a purchase automation to close the loop.
In Automations, create a folder, then a workflow from scratch. Use the payment received trigger, filter it to the specific product, and add a second filter for payment status is successful so failed charges don’t fulfill. From there, chain the actions you’d normally do by hand:
- Add a tag (like “coaching purchased”) so you can segment the buyer.
- Create an opportunity and move them into the right pipeline stage.
- Send the fulfillment email — the link, the calendar, the course access, the community invite.
- Fire an internal notification so your team knows a sale happened.
Publish it, then duplicate it for each product, order bump, and OTO — same shape, just swap the product and the messaging. Every purchase, including subscriptions, should have its own fulfillment flow.
This is the layer that turns a payment page into a system that runs itself, the same way the automations we install handle follow-up without a human touching it.
Frequently asked questions
Which payment processor should I use with GoHighLevel?
Stripe. It’s the most proven and best-adapted option for GoHighLevel, with a near-instant one-button connect. PayPal is a solid backup. Authorize.net and NMI work but need more setup — and note that Apple Pay in GoHighLevel is tied to NMI and Authorize.net, not Stripe.
Can I take a deposit and charge the balance later in GoHighLevel?
Yes. Set the price to recurring, put the balance in the recurring amount with number of payments set to 1, add a trial period for when the balance should charge, and enter the deposit as a setup fee. The deposit charges now; the balance charges when the trial ends.
Why does my funnel order form show a “dynamic item”?
That’s normal. The order form pulls its product from the page’s Products tab, so it shows a placeholder until you add the product there and have a payment integration connected. Once both are set, the real product and price appear.
Do I need the online store toggle turned on?
Only for a true e-commerce storefront with a grid of products. For coaching, services, or a single product sold through a funnel or payment link, leave it off.
